McCrory parts with Berger, Americans for Prosperity on Perdue’s last weeks

Looks like North Carolina’s Governor-elect Pat McCrory is not interested in playing the silly Bev Perdue and Raleigh-bashing game enbraced with such gusto by Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger and the conservative shock troops at Americans for Prosperity.
In the first question at today’s press briefing . Jon Camp of ABC 11 asked McCrory for his thoughts on Perdue’s busy last few weeks in office and the hubbub in some circles surrounding her decision to lease the Dorothea Dix campus to the City of Raleigh.
Here’s what he said:
“She’s the governor. That’s how I feel about it. She has the authority to make those moves. And I uh…I’d expressed my opinion earlier on the Dix — I wish we could’ve waited. I’m, I’m all for the park.”
McCrory went on to say that he’d has two conversations with Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane and had hopes that they would be able to develop a relationship that would allow them to continue to fine tune the deal and, perhaps, develop some additional ways to make use of the property to meet some of the state’s health and human services needs.
That’s it. No silly name-calling or manufactured outrage; Nothing akin to Berger’s absurd and inflammatory statement on Twitter that “Having failed for years to advance her agenda, Gov Perdue is desperately trying to craft a last-minute legacy at NC taxpayers’ expense” or AFP’s claim that the deal is “a billion-dollar giveaway of taxpayer resources.”
Let’s hope this is a harbinger of McCrory’s relationship with the far right and that, lacking anyone in the Governor’s office to scream and lob rhetorical bombs at, Berger and AFP ditch the manufactured outrage and simply pipe down.
