NC Gov. McCrory Breaks “No More Restrictions on Abortion” Pledge

During last year’s campaign for Governor, NC’s Pat McCrory was emphatic when asked what further restrictions on abortion he would sign into law:  ”None.” Today, as Governor, he says he isn’t breaking his campaign pledge by signing a bill where the very first line of the bill’s title reads “AN ACT … TO LIMIT ABORTION COVERAGE UNDER HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS OFFERED UNDER A HEALTH BENEFIT EXCHANGE OPERATING IN NORTH CAROLINA OR OFFERED BY A COUNTY OR MUNICIPALITY…”  It’s impossible to argue one is not signing a bill that enacts restrictions on abortion if the very first line in it means that many women who will buy health coverage or now have coverage will be restricted from buying health plans that cover abortion services! A particularly egregious example of a politician saying one thing during the campaign and doing another after he was elected.

    This bill does not restrict the murder of unborn babies (abortion). All it says is that you have to pay for it with funds other than tax money taken by threat of force from working men and women. It also states that the baby murder centers (abortion clinics) must meet certain health standards and have the proper medical personnel present to carry out this atrocity. So what is wrong with any of that??

    I propose that all right wingers have an extra tax imposed on them to help fund new pediatric hospitals, home wellness nurses, medical expenses and adoption centers.
    Let’s see how much they really care about these babies.

    A woman dies EVERY NINETY SECONDS from pregnancy and the maternal death rate in America has DOUBLED since that advent of ‘family values’ 2 decades ago.
    NO conservative mentions that fact or the fact that this bill will cause more women and girls to die.
    For conservatives, women are expendable.
    @Thomas Austin
    health insurance has nothing to do with taxes. It’s private money. Why is it that most misogynists are also liars?
    @NoGOPinNC
    America has the highest infant death rate in the developed world and the right wing have proposed ZERO bills to target that problem.
    They don’t care about babies AT ALL.
    This is just about insecure men trying to use forced pregnancy to control their women. Nothing more.
    Forced pregnancy is one of the main tactics abusive men have always used to tie unwilling women to them.

    @ Thomas Austin, according to the March of Dimes, as many as 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. That means your misogynistic imaginary sky daddy is the most prolific “baby murderer” by your definition of abortion. Therefore I believe we should pass legislation eliminate the existence of churches, the real baby murder centers.
