Expand Medicaid! A Community Meeting Handout

Medicaid handout photo

We’ve created a one-page (front and back) handout for North Carolinians who want to know the reasons why NC should reverse its current course and accept the billions of dollars of federal money available to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act to low-income working families, how their own legislator and Governor voted on this critical issue in 2013, and, most importantly, what they can do about it!

Ahh… billions of dollars flowing down to North Carolina like manna from heaven ! Sound almost too good to be true. Well folks, hate to rain on the parade, but it’s not true. Unfortunately we don’t have those dollars. We have to borrow them from the Chinese or the rest of the world, or the Fed has to print more worthless money to purchase our own debt. We’re bleeding red ink now to the tune of over $50 BILLION dollars a month, more than the total amount of the sequester. In July alone, we amassed $95 BILLION dollars in one month despite big tax increases. We can’t even fund the entitlement programs that we currently have, much less a huge expansion. If you had an individual doing something like this , most people would think he was insane. At some point, it will all come tumbling down, and it won’t be a pretty picture.

I like how they promote the Feds funding for two years (with the dollars borrowed from the Chinese) and all is right with the world. They seem to forget the M.O. of the federal government. Establish a program they cannot afford……we cannot cut benefits, its for the CHILDREN……pawn it off on the states who cannot afford it and let them take the blame for cutting the program. This would be a disaster in waiting with very little benefit to <150,000 people.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your rants “Doug” and “Alex” – if you don’t watch out, pretty soon you’ll be telling as many whoppers as McCrory!

Thanks for the advice Adam…..we certainly look at facts before commenting and they lean in our favor. Your use of Alinsky Rule number 5 is not very becoming of you though.

“We” certainly look at the facts. I wonder who “we” is?
