It’s hard to overestimate the impact on the more than 1,000,000 North Carolinians who will benefit from increased access to health insurance plans that fit their budget in about a month. People will be able to compare prices and plans easily starting October 1 at www.healthcare.gov . Right now people can sign up in advance and enter basic information so they are ready October 1.
For anyone who is uninsured or certainly people with insurance now that is expensive or low quality, it makes perfect sense to see what sort of a deal they can get in the marketplace. People spend enormous energy to find the lowest-cost gas and the best deal on that new flat-screen TV. Now www.healthcare.gov makes the same comparison shopping possible for health insurance in a marketplace where tax credits will finally make the cost of coverage fit the budget of the average NC family.
