NC health agency hires former GOP staffer as new marketing and branding director

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services has a new director of “brands and marketing,”  Michael Biesecker with the Associated Press reported this afternoon.

From the AP story [1]:

Aaron Mullins, 38, previously worked on the Capitol Hill staffs of then-GOP Sens. Elizabeth Dole and Don Nickles before joining Fetzer Stephens, a political consulting firm led by former North Carolina Republican Party chairman Tom Fetzer. Mullins was registered as a federal lobbyist as recently as last year, according to records.

Mullins will be making $68,000 a year and will be supervised by N.C. DHHS Communications Director Ricky Diaz, 24. who landed his $85,000-a-year job [2] after working for Gov. Pat McCrory’s campaign.
The AP story [1] noted that Mullins has also taken a stab at the entertainment industry.

In addition to his political experience, Mullins helped develop and film a TV drama called “Hard Fix.” The lead character is an Irish pub owner who keeps the secrets of high-profile politicians and helps cover up their potential scandals, sometimes with a gun.

Here’s the trailer [3] for that drama, which opens with this line: “This is a city of secrets and I’ve been impressed with your work. We have another job for you.”
