Want to know where you vote? You can contact your county board of elections (there’s a list here ) or search for your election information at this state database where you can get both your polling station and a sample ballot. Polls are open until 7:30 p.m.
You won’t need to bring your identification this year, with the various restrictions and changes to election that the legislature passed largely going into effect in January or, in the case of the ID requirement, in 2016. Still want to know more about what those changes were? Democracy NC has this excellent rundown .
Remember, of course, that North Carolina’s law is being challenged by the federal Department of Justice with accusations that the new law and its numerous restrictions discriminate against black voters in the state.
Did you hear about how the former U.S. House Speaker had trouble getting a voter ID card in Texas with that state’s new voter ID restrictions? Click here to read more about what happened to 90-year-old Jim Wright.
Enjoy your lunch, and make sure you vote!
