Rally to stop fracking today at noon

Clean Water for North Carolina and other environmental activists will be at the legislature at noon today protesting the expected approval of legislation in the state House that would allow for hydraulic fracturing in 2015.  The House gave tentative approval to Senate Bill 786 on Wednesday.

Here’s more on Thursday’s mid-day rally:

What: Rally to stop fracking in North Carolina
Where: North Carolina General Assembly, 16 W Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27601
When: Thursday, May 29 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)

North Carolina’s fracking moratorium could be lifted as soon as Thursday. no fracking

Two years ago, North Carolina’s lawmakers said that they would only consider lifting our fracking moratorium if rules were put in place to regulate this dangerous drilling practice. Now, these lawmakers are going back on their word and trying to lift the moratorium before any rules have even been created to protect public safety. Join us at a rally to protect our state from fracking.

North Carolina’s lawmakers could be deciding this as soon as tomorrow, which is why we need to act now. Please join us at the rally to keep the moratorium in place!

If you cannot attend, please call your state representative (find their contact info here), and tell them to keep the moratorium on fracking!

Sad day for NC. I guess the woes of Pennsylvania, Texas, and Colorado aren’t enough of what happens when fracking is allowed. Pray for those who will live nearby.

Please! Do your home work. This is terrible! When will the people we elected and PAY, do what is best for ALL…400 jobs is nothing..compared to the cost to our environment, the cost of supplying your family with drinking / cooking water. You will bathe in methane water, or move! They can contaminate our land, that you and I work our butts off to have.. and do as they please! We will be left with contaminated land and water, with no value, and no way to clean up their mess! There is other ways! This is only good for the greedy! Humm if we keep busting up our earths foundation..will we all fall in a big whole? More earthquakes? Hummm
