New polling: Marriage equality reaches a tipping point in NC

Gay marriage 3Even as lawmakers move to override Governor McCrory’s veto of Senate Bill 2 — the proposal to allow magistrates, registers of deeds and assistant registers of deeds opt out of performing same sex marriages — North Carolina public opinion continues to move rapidly in the direction of tolerance.

One of the nation’s most accurate polling firms — Public Policy Polling — has the details:

“PPP’s newest North Carolina poll finds a record high level of support for gay marriage, 8 months after it became legal in the state. Voters are now almost evenly divided on the issue with 44% in support and 46% against it. That marks a massive shift in public sentiment over the last three years. In 2012 North Carolinians passed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage by 22 points, 61/39. Last year we found that voters in the state still opposed it by 13 points at 40/53.

The big shift in attitudes may be a product of North Carolinians finding after gay marriage did become legal in the state that it just wasn’t a big deal. 69% of voters in the state either say that its being legal has had a positive impact on their lives or no impact at all, with only 31% claiming it’s had a negative effect.

The numbers by party in North Carolina on this issue really show the extent to which Republicans are on such a different plane when it comes to social issues than Democrats and independents. 59% of both Democrats and independents say they think gay marriage should be legal- meanwhile only 17% of Republicans do. There’s also a huge generational gap- 57% of voters under 45 favor gay marriage, while only 36% over 45 do. Support will just keep increasing given that age divide.”

“Most accurate”? These guys have a lot of stories out there about how they have manipulated data and have pretty much been disgraced! Just google PPP and you can see that. The fact that you guys tout them so often really brings this site into disrepute as well…as if the reputation can get lower LOL.

If the reputation is so low why are you so eager to has an oppositional view on every topic discussed. You carry no weight with your smarter then everyone else views.

hmm, if it upsets you so much to comment, then there is plenty of weight there. I see it is at least causing a spark of doubt and that is all it takes to eventually start a fire.
    ….
And I post the opposition on this site because pretty much everything here deserves opposition. Progressive views are the most radically subversive known other than maybe communisim and socialism so my alternate comments are sorely needed here.

Pertians!, I was just wondering. Are you a second screen name for Alan? Your writing style is very similar if you take away the crazy-hate.

Also another similarity is the poor grammar. It is “than everyone else”, not “then everyone else”.

LSD, I truly, really do feel sorry for you. Pertains is not Alan, and Alan is not Pertains.

Your reference to “crazy-hate” only means you’re still having issues comprehending reflection. The only hate I see posted on this forum is your constant barrage of extremist crazy-talk.

I do however agree with Pertains, your comments carry no weight whatsoever. The simple fact that you comment here on just about every topic, on a daily basis, only reinforces the fact you are a paid hack for the right wing extremists. No reasonable person could assume anything else, any reader on this forum knows full well what, and who, you represent.

Alan, you need not feel sorry for me. But glad to see you have switched over to your usual moniker. Good to see you did not post one of your usual hate filled comments, maybe Rob and Fitzsimon sent you to a class to expand your vocabulary during your hiatus?
    ….
And you both(?) agree, yet feel the need to troll every post here except the two or three that actually agree with something. Hmmmm…..that seems like a lot of weight from my POV.

Oh and be sure to revisit that post on California from the other day. More Smak Laid Down!

LSD, no need for me to revisit anything, I already see your childlike obsession about being first and last to comment. You give yourself way too much credit for the “weight” of your inputs here. You are indeed more the curiosity than anything of substance.

And please, grow up a bit. Using terms like “man”, “dude” and “More Smak Laid Down” makes you appear like an immature kid, or intern…

Man, I will even link for you as I know you are pretty lazy what with your inability to use Google to research and all.

Well, I must have some significant weight as you seem to be unable to resist me. Kinda like a planet attracted by the gravity weight of a star you seem to keep coming around with insults and and your crazy-hate speech. My question is, if there is no weight to my comments why must you troll/comment almost every place right after me? And then complain when I actually answer you? If you don’t want to discuss…or in your case trade insults….then why not stay away?
