In case you missed it, last week High Point University released their latest North Carolina poll .
The poll, the third of 2017, found Gov. Roy Cooper’s approval rating at 49 percent. That’s up from 44 percent in HPU’s February poll . The latest poll was taken from March 25 – March 30, just as the HB2 repeal was being finalized and signed into law. For that reason, its results are unlikely to yet reflect public reaction to the repeal, which was signed on March 30. The details of the repeal deal upset both LGBT advocates and religious conservatives but did manage to get the NCAA and ACC to reconsider holding championship games in the state.
Asked about the job Donald Trump is doing as president, 36 percent of respondents said they approved. That’s the same percentage as in the February poll.
About two thirds of respondents, or 65 percent, said they believe the country is on the wrong track. That’s up from 60 percent in February.
