Top of the morning

It has never been easy keeping up with all the lunacies of the right, but during the health care debate it has become downright impossible.

One of the Republican talking points about the latest health care reform proposal is that it slashes Medicare benefits. It’s not true of course, but that doesn’t matter when you are trying to scare seniors.

Then there are the Tea Party activists shouting “keep government’s hands off my Medicare,” which at least seems to indicate that even the Hitler-poster-carrying extremists want Medicare protected.

That brings us to Glenn Beck, the top tea partier or 9/12er or birther or whatever he is calling himself these days. Think Progress reports that the fringe man is now calling for Medicare to be abolished.

Wonder if that’s what all those tea parties and the 9/12 march was about, ending health care for everybody’s grandmother.
